Soil pH Meter with Rod — Portable Analog Tester, Battery-Free
$53.54
Description
Most plants fail not from lack of water or light, but from soil pH that's quietly wrong. This Soil pH Meter gives you an instant analog reading — push the pointed metal rod into the root zone, wait a moment, read the dial. No batteries, no calibration, no app. A straightforward tool that removes the guesswork from soil health.
Product Details
- Measurement: Soil pH — reads acidity and alkalinity directly from the root zone
- Probe: Pointed metal rod — penetrates deep into soil without pre-drilling
- Display: Clear analog dial with faceted black housing — readable in low-light conditions
- Power: Battery-free — no batteries to replace, no charging required
- Calibration: Not required — ready to use out of the box
- Suitable environments: Garden beds, lawns, orchards, potted plants, raised beds
- Format: Handheld, portable — single unit with integrated rod
How to Use
- Ensure the soil is moist (not waterlogged) — dry soil will not conduct a reading
- Insert the metal rod into the soil 10–15cm deep, directly into the root zone
- Wait 60 seconds for the reading to stabilise
- Read the pH value on the analog dial
- Take 2–3 readings in different spots for a representative average
- Clean and dry the rod after each use
Ideal pH range for most plants is 6.0–7.0. Readings below 6.0 indicate acidic soil; above 7.0 indicates alkaline. Consult your plant’s specific requirements for precise targets.
Why This Product
- No Running Costs: Battery-free means no replacement batteries and no charging — always ready
- Instant Results: Analog response within seconds; no waiting for digital boot-up or Bluetooth sync
- Root-Zone Accurate: Pointed rod reaches the actual root zone rather than surface soil, giving a more relevant reading
- Simple for Any Skill Level: No settings, no modes, no calibration — gardeners of all experience levels can use it immediately
Not Best For
- Dry or sandy soil — requires moist soil for the analog sensor to conduct a reading
- Laboratory-grade precision — analog meters have typical tolerances; not a substitute for professional soil analysis
- Nutrient or moisture testing — this meter reads pH only; does not measure NPK levels or soil moisture
- Rocky or compacted ground — the probe may not penetrate hard or stony substrates effectively
Care & Maintenance
- Clean the metal rod with a damp cloth after each use to remove soil residue
- Dry the rod completely before storing — moisture left on the probe may affect future readings
- Do not submerge the housing in water
- Store in a dry location away from direct sunlight
- Do not bend or force the rod into hard ground — this may damage the sensor
Analog pH meter — typical tolerances apply; not a substitute for professional laboratory soil analysis. Reads pH only — does not measure moisture or nutrients. Requires moist soil for accurate readings. Clean and dry probe after each use.
